Jevante Davis graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles and then UC Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Linguistics. He joined the CCC looking to get experience and direction. Beginning with a stroke of a pen and a message of good luck from Governor Jerry Brown, on this date 42 years ago, the California Conservation Corps was born. Leaders like Buck Hornor, LeRoy Chatfield and B.T. Collins helped turn Governor Brown’s vision into a reality. Today, more than 1,400 young adults work to protect and enhance California’s natural resources through our motto of Hard Work, Low Pay, Miserable Conditions and More!
